Meet Dr. Richard Lapchick, Director for The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports (TIDES), and Director of the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at the University of Central Florida, and the President and CEO of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS).

Dr. Lapchick has written a very many articles and books on a variety of social justice and human rights issues in American sports and athletics. From the TIDES website:

“Human rights activist, pioneer for racial equality, internationally recognized expert on sports issues, scholar and author Richard E. Lapchick is often described as ‘the racial conscience of sport.’”

Dr. Lapchick joins our discussion this coming Wednesday, February 15th at Legends at 7:30p.m. for the final part of our four-part exploration of race and sports in America, Playing with Fire: Race and Sport in American Culture.

Dr. Lapchick joins on stage Pam Oliver, popular analyst and reporter for FOX Sports, and Dr. Earl Smith, Professor of Sociology and Director of American Ethnic Studies at Wake Forest University.
