We invite you to join in on any and all of these events happening on campus and in the community.


 

Insights in History: Potawatomi People's Travels and Resurgence

Wednesday, November 4, 1:30-3 pm at The History Museum, 808 W. Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46601

Brian S. Collier, Ph.D., is on the Graduate Faculty of the Alliance for Catholic Education and Interim Director of Native American Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame. He will discuss the first founders of our region, the Potawatomi, near and around the time of the founding of Notre Dame, and, later, South Bend. A guided tour of Voyages Gallery is offered. Admission is $3 or $1 for members. Reservations are required by November 2. Details

 

A Celebration of Native American Heritage Month featuring Sacramento Knoxx

Thursday, November 5, 6-8 pm at the Notre Dame Center for Arts and Culture, 1045 W. Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46601

Sacramento Knoxx is an Ojibwe/Anishinaabe & Xicano emcee, mixed media artist, and community cultural worker. He will perform some of his work and give a community talk. Authentic Native American food will be served. This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome!

 

MSPS First Fridays with Sacramento Knoxx

Friday, November 6, 3-5 pm in the Coalition Lounge, 207 LaFortune Student Center

Come hang out with MSPS on the first Friday of every month! This month will feature special guest Sacramento Knoxx, an Ojibwe/Anishinaabe & Xicano emcee, mixed media artist, and community cultural worker, who will perform at 4 pm. Details

Come try your hand at dream-catchers and other traditional crafts!


 

Indians Walk in Two Different Worlds

Wednesday, November 11, 5:30 pm at the Notre Dame Center for Arts and Culture, 1045 W. Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46601

Featuring guest artist Dylan Miner of Michigan State University (MSU).  Dylan is the American Indian Studies Program Director, the Adjunct Curator of Indigenous Art at MSU Museum, and a mixed media artist. A Wiisaakodewinini (Métis), he will be visiting the NDCAC to showcase some of his work and give a community talk on Native American art and heritage. Details

 

Native American Heritage Celebration Dinner: Native Americans Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Monday, November 16, 6:30 pm, Legends of Notre Dame

Join MSPS for a dinner celebration of Native American Heritage Month! This event will feature Native American food as well as speaker Marcus Winchester, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of the Pokagon Band. Space is limited; RSVP required!
