Denise Brenes

Denise Brenes joined the University of Notre Dame in the fall of 2021. She oversees all of the student success initiatives of MSPS including the Building Bridges Mentoring Program and the MSPS Scholars Program.

Before joining the MSPS Office, Ms. Brenes worked as the Director of Undergraduate Advising for the School of Biological Science in the College of Science at the University of Utah from 2014 – 2021. She also served as the Director of Student Services for the College of Pharmacy PharmD. Program from 2011 – 2014. Denise has additional experience in higher education, having worked in residential life, career & development services, tutoring & learning services, and study abroad programs.

Ms. Brenes is pursuing her Doctor of Education in Educational, Leadership, & Policy - Higher Education Administration with a graduate certificate in Gender Studies from the University of Utah. Through her graduate education, she has conducted COVID-19 academic research with Dr. Amy Bergersen and helped Co-T.A. Honors Praxis Lab - Black Perspectives with Dr. Darius Bost. Ms. Brenes earned her Master of Education in Educational, Leadership, & Policy - Student Affairs and her Bachelor of Arts in Middle East Studies - Persian from the University of Utah. Additionally, Denise has an Associate's Degree in Science from Amarillo College.
